Last month, we reported how Target was no longer allowing reloads of its infamous RedCard using credit cards, and now you’re only able to load with cash or debit cards.
While, Target RedCard just sent the following email to its members:
Dear Points Miles Martinis,
We wanted to let you know that you will no longer be able to load your Target Prepaid REDCard® by American Express at Target stores with a Target GiftCard or a non-Target branded credit card. You can continue to load your card with cash or debit at Target stores.
You can also add money to your Target Prepaid REDcard® by American Express online through direct deposit or transfer from your linked debit or bank account.

Thanks,

Bottom Line
Target has officially announced that you can no longer load Redcard with a credit card, however you should still be able to load with a debit card, meaning Simon Mall gift cards or other visa gift cards with pins should work.
However as of recently according to this Flyertalk thread, there appears to be some issues going on with the registers at the stores as well, so let’s hope this isn’t related.
Have you recently tried to load your Target Redcard? Feel free to share your experiences below!
Tried to load my Redcard this morning at Target customer service (in SLC), but there was an issue with the register (before I was even given a chance to swipe my card). Hope this is fixed quickly!
No issues in loading $500 Metabank Visa GCs in Northern Virginia just a few hours ago.
