Earlier this week, I found myself in Los Angeles on a work trip, and decided to kill some extra time at the Virgin America Loft at LAX, which is a Priority Pass lounge, meaning that’d I’d be able to access with my Priority Pass Select Membership, which is a benefit of my Platinum Card from American Express.
The Virgin America Loft is located at Terminal a Terminal 3, meaning if you’re flying Virgin America, JetBlue, Spirit, or Frontier, you’ll be easily accessible to the lounge, since all those airlines are located in the same terminal.
To get to the lounge, you can either walk up the stairs or take an elevator. This lounge requires you to be buzzed in, which I always find amusing at airport lounges.
As stated on the door, this lounge accepts Priority Pass and Lounge Club members. I believe Virgin America First Class passengers also get access and their elite members get a few passes a year.
Overall, my take on the lounge was that it was pretty plain and not really maintained. There was trash and empty glasses at every table, though I did enjoy the red seats and other chairs here.
When it came to food and drinks, there was a few snack items on the buffet, though nothing really looked too appealing to me.
The bar was an open bar, which meant all drinks were complimentary and there was a Coca-Cola soda machine on the far side of the bar, which the bartender said tasted better getting coke from, rather than having her get one for me.
The best part of the lounge for me was the great runway views, meaning you could watch planes take off or land all day.
Bottom Line
The Virgin America Loft is the only airport lounge at Terminal 3 at LAX, so if you’re flying one of the airlines departing from this terminal, I’d recommend stopping by, but I don’t see myself coming here if I was departing form a different terminal.
You can gain access to Priority Pass Select, which will get you lounge access here for free by being a cardholder of The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN.
