We’ve written before about the site OpenTable, which  has a dining rewards program where you earn points for making reservations through their system. These points add up fast and can be redeemed for cash vouchers to be used at restaurants within their system.
However as OpenTable has become more popular the last few years especially in the big likes like SF, LA, and NYC, it’s not uncommon to see this when searching:
You can see these three restaurants for instance next weekend don’t have any times around 8pm when looking on OpenTable. The great thing though is that OpenTable updates in real-time so you could see when a table opens up but that would require you having to constantly refresh the site.
However there is now a solution to this called RezHound, which will notify you when a booked-up OpenTable restaurant has the reservation you’re looking for.
Just enter the desired OpenTable restaurant on their site and hit Let’s Eat!
Next, just enter the information for the date, number in your party and time, and on the following screen your email and you’ll be notified as soon as OpenTable has an opening and then you can go right on and book it.
Bottom Line
I’m a huge fan of OpenTable for making reservations and for earning points, but I’m even a bigger fan of RezHound for getting notified for sold-out restaurants.
Have you used RezHound before? If so, feel free to comment below with your experiences!
Skip this step altogether. What’s not common knowledge is that opentable is only given a quota of seats. Call the restaurant directly and you will be pleasantly surprised. Still fully booked? Call up Amex plat and the concierge will pull miracles.
Thanks for sharing! I’m going to check out RezHound so I can up our chances of getting into the restaurants my wife wants to try. Bon Appetit!
