Last week, we wrote about how Citi was offering an increased offer for their Citi Premier card of 60,000 bonus ThankYou Points after spending $3,500 with the card within the first three months.
However, I just applied for the Citi Premier card about 3 weeks ago when the offer was 50,000 points after spending $3,000 within the first three months, but wanted to see if there was any chance to be matched to the higher sign-up bonus.
After I sent a secure message to Citi asking to be matched to the higher offer, I received the following response:
Your account is enrolled in the promotional offer to receive 60,000 bonus ThankYou® Point(s) as long as you spend $3,500 by 11/23/2015.
Please allow 1-2 billing periods after you have made the necessary purchases for the points to appear on your statement. If they have not appeared after that time, please call us. For your convenience, our number is listed on the back of your card.
We appreciate your business and value you as our customer. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Bottom Line
It never hurts to call or message if you recently applied for a credit card in which a higher offer comes out. If you just applied for the 50,000 Citi Premier offer, I’d suggest reaching out to Citi to see if they’ll increase your offer.
I just wrote about this too! I opened 2 cards, one for me and my wife in May. I was able to get the extra 10k for myself and 5k for my wife. Free 15k. Worth it!
Lucky you! They gave me the crap about it not being a public offer
I sent a message as well and I was denied. They said it was a targeted offer and I would not be able to get the 60k offer.
Are you kidding? Citi allows this if within 90 days very easily Please mention you applied just 3 weeks ago.
I also sent a secure message and I was denied. They said it was a targeted offer and I would not be able to get the 60k offer. I asked for a supervisor to review my request and got a second answer saying I would not be matched.
