You can now purchase Visa gift cards at OfficeMax and load them with as much as $500. Â This is great news if you are looking to meet some minimum spend on a credit card because these Visa gift cards carry a fee of $5.95 and they can be loaded to prepaid debit cards like Serve.
Help With Minimum Spend: OfficeMax $500 Visa Gift Cards
Of course this is also great if you plan to use a credit cards that earns you bonus points or bonus cash back at office supply stores such as OfficeMax. For example, I use my SimplyCash® Business Card from American Express which earns me 5% cash back on office supply store purchases (on first $50,000 spent.) In this case, the $500 Visa gift card purchase will mean me $25 in cash back!
Bottom Line
Recently we posted that Staples now also sells $300 Visa gift cards online, see my post here about those.
Do you have personal experience buying these successfully? I haven’t seen any in local OM, and have read claims people did buy a few but they weren’t properly activated. OM may not be up to speed on this item.
And the key questions are of course:
Could you use a credit card at all to make the purchase?
Could you use Apple Pay?
My OMs have a hard coded POS message that says gift cards (serve, visa, mastercard) can only be loaded with cash.
Is the image you show above the ACTUAL image of the card you can load with a credit card at your local OM?
So… I am the lucky few who were able to actually buy these at OM last week… I didn’t see any visa ones but one of 2 OM stores I visited last tuesday 10/20 had a dozen of MasterCard version in stock but I was allowed to buy only 4, $2000 worth. I now regret not hiding some of these so I could come back and get them later… since then, it seems no one ever saw these… has anyone see these back in stock? one other OM store I called aren’t even aware such thing exists. I hope it’s not an one time experiment on limited market…
BTW I did buy these using credit card no problem… chase ink of course and 10000+ UR already posted and I was able to load these on Serve at WM no problem.
