Terms and conditions

1. Eligibility: Offer valid only for MileagePlus® members residing in the 50 United States and District of Columbia.
2. How to Participate: 
Members must register at united.com/waystoearn2015 and complete qualifying transactions with qualifying MileagePlus partners. Registration must be completed prior to any qualifying transaction. Register any time prior to 11:59 p.m. (CST) on November 20, 2015.
30% bonus miles offer: If a member has not earned MileagePlus award miles with a qualifying partner in the 12 months prior to the start of this offer, then for each qualifying transaction with such partner during the offer period, the member will earn bonus miles in an amount equal to 30% of the base award miles earned with such qualifying partner during the offer period.
10% bonus miles offer: For qualifying transactions with MileagePlus Shopping, MileagePlus Dining, and MileagePlus X that do not qualify for the 30% offer because the member has earned award miles with the applicable partner in the 12 months prior to the start of this offer, a member will earn bonus miles in an amount equal to 10% of the base award miles earned with such partner during the offer period.
Only one bonus may be earned per qualifying transaction.
3. Qualifying Transactions and Qualifying Partners: 
a. Miles-earning transactions with qualifying partners that are completed prior to 11:59 p.m. (CST) on November 20, 2015 and that are posted to the relevant member’s MileagePlus account by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on January 20, 2016 will qualify, except as otherwise provided herein. Retroactive claims will qualify only if miles are posted on or prior to January 20, 2016. MileagePlus will not be responsible for technical failures or delays that result in late posting or otherwise cause a transaction to be ineligible for this promotion.
b. Some partners require membership in their program in order to earn MileagePlus award miles. Partners may also require members to opt to earn MileagePlus miles over other loyalty currencies.
c. Energy Plus service available in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. NRG Home Solar service available in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
d. Miles earning transactions with the following MileagePlus partners do not qualify for this promotion – airline partners, United Vacations, United Cruises, Mercedes- Benz and Fidelity. Hertz 5,000 and 7,500 mile promotions and all hotel and credit card points-to-mile transfer transactions are excluded from this promotion. MileagePlus credit card transactions (including the use or acquisition of a MileagePlus credit card) do not qualify for this promotion. f. Only qualifying miles credited to a member’s account will count toward the bonus mile offer. Any debits to a member’s account as a result of retail transactions that have been returned will negate previously credited miles.
4. Other:
a. Transactions must be credited to the MileagePlus account number of the registered member in order to qualify.
b. Each member is allowed to earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus award miles from this promotion.
c. Promotional bonus miles may take up to 6-8 weeks after a qualifying partner transaction (but no later than March 20, 2016) to post to a member’s account.
d. Registered MileagePlus members must comply with all terms and conditions of this promotion to earn bonus award miles.
e. This offer is not combinable with other MileagePlus offers. This is a MileagePlus sponsored promotion and not sponsored by other partners.

Bottom Line

Frequentmiler does a nice write up of the different options that qualify and that don’t qualify for this bonus from United. I will definitely register for this promotion and just see how it plays out for me.
