As we posted back in February, Marriott is out with some changes in award category that will take affect after today March 24, 2016. So if you have any properties that you want to make a reservation at, now is your chance to book a that the lower tier if it is going up in category. Here’s the complete list of hotels that are changing categories or tiers in 2016. The category or tier determines how many points are required for free nights.

Will my existing redemption reservation be impacted?

All redemption reservations booked on or before March 24, 2016 for stays beginning March 24, 2016, will be honored at the point price booked.

How many hotels are affected?

82% of the properties remain unchanged.
62% of the properties will remain in Categories 1-4.
18% of the hotels are changing. Of those changing, 30% are decreasing by one category and 70% are increasing by one category.

Bottom Line

If you are planning a trip, you can book these properties today at the lower points, if you wait until tomorrow, you will be subject to the higher tier which is a waste of points! Don’t forget, today is the cutoff.
