Hotel Review: The Court – A St Giles Hotel (Previously W Hotels)

On a recent business trip to New York, I decided to forgo my usual hotel brands and ended up booking a last-minute booking with HotelTonight. I was able to book the The Court – A St Giles Hotel, which was previously part of W Hotels.

The property is located on 39th Street and Lexington Ave, and is also part of The Tuscany hotel as well. Upon check-in, it was extremely busy in the lobby and they only had one front desk agent checking guests in.

As I had made the reservation about an hour before, it wasn’t set up in their system yet properly for billing, so the front desk agent had me wait while she could get a manager to put it in properly, which was frustrating.

I was assigned a room on the 3rd floor, which they claimed was an upgrade, but the room was very dated and doesn’t seem as if had been renovated in several years.

There was also a small desk, and television as well as a closet in the entrance area.

The bathroom was also very small and pretty much bare bones in terms of the decor and amenities it offered.

Bottom Line

I suppose I had high expectations since this used to be a W hotel, however it appears that the quality and upkeep of this property has really gone downhill, from the understaffed check-in area, to the run-down rooms, I wouldn’t return anytime soon.

  1. Wow, I used to stay at both the W Tuscany and W Court…and they haven’t been W properties in over 8 years now. The Court was the cheaper and less appointed of the two and with smaller rooms. But the decor looks almost exactly the same now as it was for my last stay. Obviously, the owners went cheap.
