As a reminder, this promotion ends December 31, 2016. If you received the 50% offer, you may want to take advantage! Starwood is offering a pretty nice deal on points right now when you purchase at least 5,000 points, you can score up to 50% off of the price! This does seem to be a targeted offer and the discount that you receive may be less, I personally was targeted for 30% off. You have to log in here to see what offer you are targeted for. Not too long ago, there was an offer for 35% Off Starpoints For SPG Amex Cardholders!

The Deal

Members may purchase a minimum of 500 Starpoints and then in any increment of 500. Purchased Starpoints are applicable for all Starpoint awards. A maximum of 30,000 Starpoints may be purchased or received as a gift into your account per calendar year. Please allow 24 hours for your account to be updated. Starpoints can only be purchased via the Internet, and are not refundable or exchangeable. All Starpoint usage is subject to the general terms and conditions of the Starwood Preferred Guest program, which are subject to change without notice.

Bottom Line

Starpoints cost US $.035 per point so if you were targeted for the 50% off, that is a pretty great deal especially if you have a specific redemption in mind. If you are looking for other ways to earn SPG points,  consider both the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express. You get up to 5 Starpoints® for each dollar of eligible purchases at participating SPG® hotels and earn 25,000 bonus Starpoints® after you use your new Card to meet minimum spending requirements.
