Following United Airlines Launching Several New Routes last month, the latest airline to announce their summer expansion plans is American Airlines. American’s new routes stem from most of their hubs, meaning that Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Dallas/Ft. Worth; Charlotte, NC; Miami, FL, and Chicago O’Hare can all expect to see new service soon.
Since the merger with American and US Airways, the airline has been able to add service to many small cities to connect more customers to their route network. The latest expansion follows on their previous domestic expansion plans.
Taking at look at Chicago, O’Hare, starting starting July 5, they’ll add service to:
- Appleton, WI (ATW)
- Birmingham, AL (BHM)
- Boise, ID (BOI)
- Colorado Springs, CO (COS)
- Greensboro, NC (GSO)
- Greenville, SC (GSP)
- Ontario, CA (ONT) (summer only)
American will also begin service between Dallas/Ft. Worth and Spokane, WA (GEG); and between Miami and Omaha, NE (OMA) on July 5th. A few days later the airline will launch new service between Chicago (ORD) and Guatemala City, Guatemala (GUA) on July 8th.
With these new routes from United and American, it’s time to turn to Delta to see what new routes we can expect them to be adding this summer. It’s worth mentioning several of American’s new routes are aimed to complete directly with Delta. Two prime examples are their service between Chicago to Birmingham, AL and Greenville, SC, which currently offer nearly hourly service to Atlanta on Delta.
