The Four Seasons Mexico City is located near the Condesa and Polbanco areas, just right around the corner from the Chapultepec Park.  The area around the hotel is great for business travelers (many banks/finance and offices) along with the leisure travelers (museums, shopping malls, and local attractions).  

I took an Uber from the Mexico City Airport to the hotel, which would usually take 30 minutes but because of the traffic, it took about an hour.  The hotel is not very tall – only 8 floors in total. Guests enter the hotel under a porte cochere and bellmen greet you and handle your luggage. A doorman greets you warmly and straight ahead is check-in.  The lobby is quite modern while still having a Mexican influence – in the seats, pillows, and artwork.

The reception desk is small but the agent who assisted was informed of my arrival from the bellmen. I was given a bottle of water – the same complimentary bottle of water offered throughout the hotel.  Check-in was quick and I was on my way to my room.

I booked a Superior Room facing the interior courtyard looking at the gardens, bar and food venues.  Usually many guests would want a street view room but this was better. I was surprised how quiet it was at night.

Upon entering the room, there was large bathroom with separate tub and shower to the left.  The bathroom had L’Occitane products and were replenished daily. To the right was the large closet space, minibar and coffee machine which was a Nespresso machine.

The bedroom had two queen sized bed with 48in flat screen TV.  The bed was very comfortable and had many plush pillows. The artwork was very traditional and reflected the Mexican culture.  There was also a small couch and oversized desk.

Amenities:

All guests get complimentary standard wifi, which was fast and consistent.  I did not see an option for a premium wifi but never did any heavy downloading or streaming.  As mentioned before, bottles of water are offered throughout the hotel, including the ones placed for turndown service.

At the hotel, there’s a gym and outdoor pool.  I only used the gym and wanted to use the pool but due to the rain, I was unable to use it.  The gym was small but served its purpose. To get to the gym, it was quite a walk since the hotel takes up almost a full block.  

Guests have to sign a waiver and attendants show guests around and if they need assistance, they are there to help. There was a few machines and free weights, all had bottles of water and towels placed on the machines.  I only went early in the morning but never felt crowded.

Service at the hotel was not bad but not polished.  There were some minor service issues. The bar, Fifty Mills, was fantastic but service was a bit slow and I was placed on a table with an umbrella in an outdoor area, which rained before.  Not ideal but the staff assisted in cleaning up the area. With the other restaurant, Zanaya, I had to ask for refills of water and coffee. I also asked for milk but never got it and I had to get milk from the buffet area.  Front desk staff were okay. There was a miscommunication as upon arrival, the agent informed me that breakfast was included and in Zanaya.

However upon check-out, the agent provided the folio and I noticed a charge for breakfast.  Only then did the agent inform me that the breakfast that was included was for the lobby coffee bar. The staff at Zanaya also confirmed that breakfast was included and the front desk would handle adjusting the charge. Not ideal but was very frustrating.  Lastly, for the last night of the stay, I noticed that the bed was not turned down. It was fine however around 10pm at night, I got a knock at the door asking if I wanted turndown service. It was late for me since I had an early flight the next day and was not consistent in my mind.  However, the doormen made my stay fantastic. They remembered and greeted me by name all the time I entered the hotel.

Bottom Line

My short stay at the Four Seasons Mexico City was excellent.  The rooms are tastefully done while emphasizing the Mexican culture and art scene.  I wouldn’t change anything about the rooms. The food & beverage along with the other public spaces of the hotel are in great shape and a big highlight.  However, for a Four Seasons, this property needs to improve its service standards. Though the staff always had a smile and were friendly and professional.
