Lounge Review: Cathay Pacific Tokyo Haneda (HND) Lounge

On a recent American Airlines business class flight from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Los Angeles (LAX), I had a couple hours to spend at the airport before the flight. I was told at checkin, I would have access to the Sakura Lounge operated by JAL, however the lounge was closed when I arrived. Fortunately, all the lounges are located vertically at the Haneda International Airport terminal and I only had to go up an escalator to the floor above for the Cathay Pacific lounge.

The expansive lounge has several large seating areas to accommodate all types of travelers.

Additionally, the lounge has Cathay’s signature Noodle Bar, a full-service bar, as well as a snack/dessert bar, and a small business center.

The lounge is very well designed with warm colors, a variety of comfortable chairs and places to dine. The open space gives a feeling of being in a spacious house that is both inviting and calming.

The Noodle Bar is a must visit and has a numerous tasty menu options made to order.

I opted for a steam BBQ pork bao and an order of beef curry with rice.

The full-service bar has a vast selection of liquors, wine, and sake. The mixologist can whip up a cocktail to your liking as well as prepare a coffee, espresso, or tea. Next to the bar area is a fridge with canned sodas, fresh juices, and bottled water.

The snack and dessert bar located near the middle of the lounge is perfect for a quick bite or some fruit and sweets. There are two automatic beer dispensers next to the Noodle Bar that pour the perfect glass every time.

The bathroom is conveniently located near the middle of the lounge and is elegantly designed like the rest of the lounge, however it does lack showers.

Overall, I was very impressed with the Cathay Pacific Lounge. I visited midday and the lounge was practically empty which made the experience even more private. The staff was extremely attentive and almost as soon as I finished with a dish, it was promptly picked up. With the high up location above the concourse building and large windows almost everywhere provided amazing views of the airport runway and ramp. I really enjoyed my time before the flight relaxing and dining in the lounge and look forward to my next visit!
