IHG Rewards Club have announced their 2019 Point Changes, in which nearly 700 of their hotels will be either going up or down for free night awards. Glancing through the list, it appears most of these changes are negative as the hotels are increasing in the number of points required to stay for a free night.
These changes will be taking place on January 14, 2019 so if there are any hotels listed going up in price, you’ll want to book now to lock in the lower prices before the rate increases take place.
Below is a sample of a few of the properties changing:
InterContinental Mendoza decreasing from 25,000 to 20,000 points:
InterContinental Sydney increasing from 50,000 to 55,000 points:
Hotel Indigo San Diego Del Mar increasing from 25,000 to 30,000 points:
InterContinental Toronto Centre increasing from 50,000 to 55,000 points:
Last year, Chase Changes IHG Free Annual Night Policy, where all free night certificates issued after May 1st, 2018 will only be valid for redemptions at IHG properties that cost up to 40,000 points per night for Chase IHG Rewards Club Select cardholders.
Looking for more IHG points?
Consider the offering on the IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card.
IHG has kindly compiled a list of properties that have a redemption amount over the 40,000 points per night where the certificate can not be used.
Feel free to share your thought in the comments below if there are any IHG properties you plan on booking before the changes take place.
