  1. What breaks that actually matters on luggage?

    1) pull-out handle
    2) wheels

Remove the inner liner when you buy a piece of luggage. Typically they have a zipper. Then look at the workings of the pull out handle. Is the guide simply glued on? Is it a thin piece of folded metal? Are the joints just flimsy little spring-loaded buttons that can easily go out of alignment?

Now look at the wheels. How are they fastened? Are they heavy molded plastic which a sturdy housing and do the wheels have bearings? Are they made of metal and some type of rubber? Or are they screwed on? Are they simple plastic balls on a thin spindle. Is the plastic around them thin or non-existent?

Advice: spend serious money on luggage. Don’t be tricked by 5pc sets which sound like a steal. They’ll end up in the back of your closet before you need your next haircut.
