World of Hyatt will be making a change to one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties that recently joined their program. The Sailrock Resort in Turks & Caicos will be increasing from a Category 7 to a Category 8 hotel as of April 8, 2019.
This change is a result of the room rates now including round-trip flight transportation from Providenciales International Airport (PLS) to South Caicos International Airport (XSC), where the property is located. This will be included in both paid rates and free night awards.
Hyatt informed us of the following:
Effective April 8, 2019, Sailrock Resort in Turks & Caicos, a Small Luxury Hotels of the World hotel, will be shifting from a Category 7 to a Category 8. This resort recently added round-trip transportation on an inter-island flight from Providenciales International Airport (PLS) to South Caicos International Airport (XSC), where the property is located, into their room rate structure. Due to this unique circumstance – something we haven’t dealt with before – a change in category needed to account for the round-trip airfare.Â
All free night award redemptions booked for this property before 11 am CST on Monday, April 8, 2019 will follow the current award chart. Any free night award redemptions booked on Monday, April 8 at 11 am CST or after will follow the new award chart. Once changes go into effect on Monday, April 8 at 11 am CST, any adjustments made to existing reservations will follow the terms of the new award chart.

Thank you for clearly explaining the change in category for Sailrock Resort. It’s helpful to understand the reasoning behind the shift to Category 8, especially considering the unique inclusion of inter-island flights.
The addition of round-trip airfare to the room rate is a valuable benefit, and it’s understandable that this would necessitate a category change.
While we understand the inclusion of airfare, the increase to Category 8 represents a significant jump in points required per night. Is there any chance of a grace period for existing points bookings made at the Category 7 rate?
