Delta has launched their Elevate Your Status promotion again this year, where Medallion members who are short Medallion Qualifying Miles, Segments, or Dollars can purchase them to maintain status.
You’ll be able to purchase between 1,000 and 25,500 Medallion Qualification Miles and between 3 and 36 Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) that will post to their 2019 MQMs balance and apply toward your 2020 Medallion Status. You will earn Medallion Qualifying Dollars on your purchases.
How Elevate Your Status Works:Â
Who is eligible for Elevate Your Status?
- All Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion Members are eligible for Elevate Your Status, unless they received complimentary Status for a Tier above the Tier they earned Status for. For example, if a Member is given complimentary Gold Medallion Status, but earned Silver Medallion Status through the published requirements, he or she is ineligible for Elevate Your Status.
- General SkyMiles Members must be within range to reach Silver Medallion Status by purchasing the maximum bundle of MQMs, MQSs and MQDs, in order to be eligible to participate. For example, if a Member only has 10,000 MQMs, he or she will not be eligible because the maximum amount of MQMs that can be earned through Elevate Your Status is 12,500 and the MQMs requirement for Silver Medallion Status is 25,000.
- As a reminder, Diamond Medallion Members are ineligible for Elevate Your Status because Diamond Medallion Members have already reached the highest Tier of Medallion Status.

Cheaper Alternatives to Earning MQMs:
Love racking up the Delta Miles?
If you are looking for more ways to earn Delta miles, consider The Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card, The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card or The Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card.
Bottom Line
The prices that Delta is selling Medallion Qualifying Miles for and extremely high, and I would only recommend this as a very last alternative. My first choice would be earning MQMs through one of their credit card bonuses.
Additionally, a fun and cheaper way is to take a end of the year mileage run before the end of year as both options would save you possibly thousands of dollars. There’s actually a service that will find you cheap mileage runs for your airline of choice for a small fee.
