Delta announced some positive news for SkyMiles and Medallion members, as they’ll be extending regional and global upgrade certificates, companion certificates and more as a result of COVID-19.
For anyone who had any of these that were set to expire prior to June 30, 2020, they’ll now be extended until December 31, 2020, and the recent updates can be reflected in your SkyMiles account automatically.
Per Delta,
For eligible SkyMiles Medallion Members, we’ve extended upgrade certificates and $200 Delta travel vouchers, and for eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members, we’ve extended Companion Certificates. Now, you will have until the end of 2020 to enjoy those benefits that were originally expiring before June 30. We will keep you informed on additional decisions as we evaluate overall Medallion Status and promotions.
We just had to cancel a ticket with a companion certificate- will that be redeposited as old policy said if you cancel a companion ticket it is lost? thanks
Half a year is pretty half —- they need to go full bore like Hilton and extend everything to 2022. BA also extended everything by 6 months and not just stuff expiring before June 30.
Delta is still being ridiculously stingy and slow to react. We have Global Upgrades, vouchers, gift cards, and denied boarding comp gift cards that all expire AFTER June, but before mid-September. What good does their current policy do us? Also, they are still selling tix from JFK to TLV beginning 25APR. Exactly in what universe will Israel allow a flight from JFK of all places to come to Tel Aviv in 24 days. Delta needs to be more proactive and stop with the rolling expiration dates.
