Hilton sent out an email today to all Hilton Honors members regarding the current COVID-19 situation going on around the world. One part of the email did include Hilton Honors updates, so I thought I’d share for those who haven seen.
Immediately, Hilton is pausing the expiration on all Hilton Honors points until the end of May. If you had points expiring before, they’ll now be extended. Additionally, when it comes to elite status, Hilton Honors WILL be doing something, however they advised it’s too early to tell what that will look like.
Here’s what Hilton says about Hilton Honors points/status:
We know that earning Hilton Honors Points and Status is an important way we show appreciation. We also know the current travel environment may limit your ability to stay with us.
- We will pause the expiration of all points scheduled to expire between now and May 31, 2020.
- We will make updates to the requirements for earning tier status for 2021. Since the situation is still evolving, it is too early to make and announce specific changes. We are committed to sharing details as soon as possible.
Hmm. I wonder what they will be extending the expirations of the free night certificates
Just found out that Busch Gardens planned opening has been canceled. My husband and I paid for the trip using points.
Since you have taken the ability to credit points back by the hotel managers my choice is to lose those points or make the trip anyway and try to find a way to amuse myself for the entire weekend!
To make matters worse, we are supposed to fly to Hawaii in a few weeks to use our timeshare on the big island and a 2nd week in Honolulu using our hgv points. We will be out of luck if we can’t go because of the current situation.
