Hotel Review: Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel

I recently shared how I was Embarking on the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Challenge, where I’d need to stay 16 nights within 90 days of enrolling to earn Marriott Platinum Elite Status. As I was mattress running in New York City, my next stop was the the Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel.

The Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel is located in Midtown Manhattan near Koreatown. The hotel has 348 guest rooms and is a Marriott Category 6 property with free night stand awards starting at 50,000 points per night for a standard award.

Bottom Line

This was my first stay at a Renaissance hotel before, and overall I was pleased with the stay and condition of the hotel and guest room. The hotel does feature a Club Lounge for Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador guests located on the 6th floor lobby level

For those looking for a hotel with a nice gym, guests have access to Planet Fitness, which is located in same building as the hotel, though it seems to have received mixed reviews, so I’m sure whether it’s a plus or minus not to have a designated hotel gym.

If you’re headed to NYC, I’d also recommend checking out the brand new Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel, which just opened up and is in a better location.

  1. Marriott Platinum status isn’t worth a mattress run. Just buy breakfast with your mattress run money. Upgrades are few and far between suite night awards don’t clear. Your points are constantly devalued. Don’t get Bonvoyed!
