Marriott Bonvoy has announced its latest status challenge if you’re looking to earn Marriott Gold or Marriott Platinum Elite status. You can read our experience of Embarking on the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Challenge, which was successfully completed earlier this year.
If you have elite status with World of Hyatt, Hilton, IHG or Accor, you’ll be eligible to sign up for this challenge, which will grant you reciprocal status for 90 days, and then a reduced number of nights to stay during those three months to maintain the status.
- Marriott Bonvoy members will receive Gold Elite status for 90 days (“earning periodâ€) upon registration approval. Member will have 90 days to book and consume five (5) eligible paid nights to retain Gold Elite status until February 2022. After that, Gold Elite status will be retained by staying the required number of eligible nights under the terms of the Marriott Bonvoy program.
- Marriott Bonvoy members will receive Platinum Elite status for 90 days (“earning periodâ€) upon registration approval. Member will have 90 days to book and consume 15 eligible paid nights to retain Platinum Elite status until February 2022. After that, Platinum Elite status will be retained by staying the required number of eligible nights under the terms of the Marriott Bonvoy program.
Credit toward this promotion is given for eligible paid nights consumed at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels that occur within the earning period. Award stays do not count as qualifying nights.
If you’re interested in signing up, you can head over to the Marriott Status Challenge site where you’ll need to sign into your account to enroll. Again, you must currently have elite status with Hyatt, IHG, Hilton, or Accor to partake in this offer.
Marriott doesn’t list enrollment dates other than mentioning that successful challenges will earn status through February 2022. Once signed-up expect to see your status updated within 10 business days.

Seriously? Why bother? Marriott’s are not offering offering benefits to elites.
Lifetime silver which means nothing. I signed up because I have three Marriott stays coming up this month, and those stays will get me to gold. But I might as well be platinum while earning gold status and get extra points than remaining silver. It was easy to do. A no brainer even if you won’t make it.
