Delta has announced more positive news for travelers in terms of permanent fee waivers. Effective immediately, Delta Air Lines is eliminating change fees on international flights that begin in North America.
This news comes weeks after Delta Eliminates Change Fees on Domestic Flights as well as Delta Permanently Eliminates Award Redeposit Fees.
Delta’s Flexibility Promise: No Change Fees
Simplifying the travel experience with no change fees and more flexibility is a permanent pledge Delta is delivering to customers.
Going beyond our waiver extension, Delta is permanently eliminating change fees for international travel originating from North America, effective immediately. Customers can expect the following:
- No change fees on Delta tickets for travel originating from North America to anywhere in the world (including flights operated by joint venture and codeshare partners).
- Basic Economy fares are excluded.
This is fantastic news to see that Delta is eliminating international change fees, as this is really the last fee that hasn’t yet been announced. One exception is that international tickets in Basic Economy will still have these fees.
Last month, we saw American Airlines Eliminates International Change Fees so I’m not at all surprised that Delta has followed with this latest update.
As Delta removes more fees for all SkyMiles members, Medallion status might not be as valuable as it once was, unless Delta can step it up with some new perks.
