Uber and Marriott Bonvoy have announced a new partnership where Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to earn bonus Marriott points on select Uber and Uber Eats purchases. In order to get started you’ll need to link your two accounts.

Earn points on your rides and meals:

• 6x Points per dollar spent on Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25+ that are delivered to any hotel in the Marriott portfolio.
• 3x Points per dollar spent on rides with UberXL, Uber Comfort, Uber SUV, and Uber Black.
• 2x Points per dollar spent on all other Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25+, including those from Marriott restaurants.

Plus, you can also earn 2,000 bonus points for a limited time when you complete a qualifying Uber Eats order or select Uber ride.

Bottom Line

Before you get too excited, there are several limitations on this, for instance UberX doesn’t count. I’m not sure about you, but most of my Uber rides are from UberX, which wouldn’t be eligible.

Additionally, in order to earn with Uber Ears, you need to spend at least $25+ on food. Again, if you’re just ordering a quick lunch or dinner, you might not hit the $25 threshold, meaning you wouldn’t earn any Marriott Bonvoy point at all.

I plan on placing at least one order to get the 2,000 bonus points, but after that I don’t plan on earning many Marriott Bonvoy points through Uber.
