Marriott Bonvoy Ambassadors who earned status this year will be able to gift Platinum Elite status to a friend or family member as a one-time benefit for thank those who have continued to earn status throughout the pandemic.
This follows news that Marriott will be extending elite status for everyone for another year through February 2023. However, starting next year the requirements will revert back to the $20,000 spend threshold for Ambassador.
Marriott sent the following email to Ambassadors:
Thank you for your continued loyalty as a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite member. We recently announced that all Marriott Bonvoy members will have their current status extended through February 2023. COVID-19 has impacted the ability to travel for many of our members, and this decision ensures that those who achieved Elite status in 2019 and beyond can fully enjoy the benefits of their achievement. In 2022, the requirements for Ambassador Elite status will return to $20,000 USD and 100 annual qualifying nights.
As travel evolves, we continue to listen to your feedback about your experience as an Ambassador Elite member. Heading into 2022, we are taking this opportunity to renew our commitment to the Ambassador program to improve and elevate the experience for our most loyal members. We hope you feel the impact of our pledge and look forward to hosting you as an Ambassador Elite member in the year ahead.
Those who achieve Ambassador Elite status by the end of 2021 by spending $14,000 USD and earning 100 annual qualifying nights will be invited to gift Platinum Elite status to a family member in January 2022. Those who are eligible will receive more information on gifting status in the new year.

Marriott is adding a new benefit to those members who earned Ambassador status this year as a thank you for their loyalty throughout this year. Ambassadors will be able to gift one Platinum Elite status which will be valid through February 2023.
Marriott also plans to invest in the Ambassador program next year, so here’s to to hoping that Marriott’s Ambassadors receive a more elevated experience next year, or at least have club lounges start to reopen.
