Here’s a quick way to get some free cash this Thanksgiving weekend! Rakuten is an online shopping portal which offers cash backs when you shop through their portal.

They are offering new members $40 free, after signing up and making a purchase of $40 or more, meaning you’re essentially getting a free $40 item or gift card.

There’s 100’s of online stores where you can shop through including Best Buy, lululemon, Macy’s, Nike, Gap as well as my favorite which is GiftCards.com.

  • If you’re interested in getting your free sign-up bonus of $40, head over to their site and sign up for a new account, all you need is a valid email.
  • Once you’ve signed up, you’ll then want to select the store of your choice and you can purchase any item/items you’d like as long as you’ve reached $40. (Pro Tip: Choose GiftCards.com and order a GrubHub, DoorDash, Netflix, Uber, Safeway etc. gift card)
  • You’ll then receive a $40 credit back to your newly created Rakuten account, essentially making your $40 item free!

To qualify for a Referral Sign-up Bonus, you must be a new member and place qualifying orders totaling a minimum of $40 within 90 days of becoming a member.

Rakuten has recently partnered with American Express, so you can absolutely take the $40 in cash either in a paper check or through PayPal, however you can opt to earn Membership Rewards points instead.

  1. I agree with all of this. I have encountered this more and more. My pet peeves are people who are avid travelers who think they are somehow more deserving of being in line, being served faster than other people etc. I have had so many people who cut in front of myself and my six year old when we are in the Diamond line or in line for boarding with our group. When I say, I’m in line – they say “I’m in first class or I’m Diamond.” It gives me so much pleasure to let them know that not only am I Diamond but so is my 6 year old. Never happens when we are with my husband! I had this condescending weirdo who told me that he was Gold medallion and he could explain how sky priority works if I needed him to. I politely declined. Entitled fliers stink!!
