Delta has announced a new benefit for American Express cardholders called TakeOff 15. Cardholders of a co-branded Delta American Express card will receive 15% off award flights when redeeming miles on Delta.
The discount will be applied automatically when logged into your SkyMiles account and searching for award flights as a cardholder. The discounted award prices are only for Delta operated flights, so partner redemptions aren’t eligible.
Introducing TakeOff 15, an exciting new benefit exclusively for Delta SkyMiles Gold, Gold Business, Platinum, Platinum Business, Reserve and Reserve Business American Express Card Members. Card Members now save 15% when booking Award Travel with miles on Delta flights*. Anytime. Terms apply.
How To Get This Discount:
- Search for Award Travel by selecting “Shop with Miles†in the search criteria on delta.com or in the Fly Delta app. Be sure to log into your SkyMiles account before searching for best results.
- Select an eligible flight. When you get to check out, you will see the miles discount applied for your itinerary.
- Use your Delta SkyMiles® American Express Card to earn miles with your Card on any taxes and fees for your itinerary.
Here’s a look at the discounted award pricing from Los Angeles to New York:
You’ll see the 15% discount applies to all fare classes including Basic, Main, Comfort + and Delta One in the above example. Both one-way flights and round-trips are eligible for the discounted award pricing.
New York (JFK) to London (LHR) roundtrip for 35,600 SkyMiles:
The discount above is for a roundtrip flight from New York (JFK) to London (LHR) on a Delta operated flight both ways. The discounted awards don’t apply for partner airlines, so when searching to London, you won’t see the discount apply to Virgin Atlantic flights.
Depending on how many miles you redeem annually, this new perk should save you several thousand SkyMiles each year.
