World of Hyatt routinely evaluates their hotels within their award categories, and will generally make changes once a year. Hyatt has announced their latest round of changes, effective Tuesday, March 28, 2023 with 372 hotels changing categories this year.

For 2023, World of Hyatt members will see the following changes: 214 hotels will shift into a higher award category with 158 shifting to a lower award category. However, don’t let the numbers fool you as their are tons of great properties increasing categories.

Here’s a look at some of the hotels that will be increasing as of March 28, 2023:

• Andaz San Diego increasing from a Category 4 to Category 5
• Mar Monte Hotel increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
• Park Hyatt Aviara Resort increasing from a Category 6 to Category 7
• Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa increasing from a Category 6 to Category 7
• Andaz 5th Avenue increasing from a Category 6 to Category 7
• Andaz Costa Rica Resort increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
• Grand Hyatt Baha Mar increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
• The Cape, a Thompson Hotel increasing from a Category 6 to Category 7

Here’s a look at some of the hotels that will be decreasing as of March 28, 2023:

• El Capitan Hotel decreasing from a Category 3 to Category 2
• Thompson Washington D.C. decreasing from a Category 5 to Category 4
• Hotel Kansas City decreasing from a Category 4 to Category 3
• Thompson Denver decreasing from a Category 6 to Category 5
• Hyatt Centric Beale Street Memphis decreasing from a Category 4 to Category 3

Some added information: 

• All free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked before 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28 will follow the current Award Chart regardless of stay dates, even if the hotel is shifting to a higher award category.
• However, members who have existing award or Points + Cash bookings as of 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28 for a night on or after Tuesday, March 28 at a Hyatt hotel that moved down to a lower category, will receive an automatic one-time refund on the point difference. Points will be returned to members’ accounts starting Tuesday, March 28.
• Any free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked on or after 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, will follow the new Award Chart.
• Once changes go into effect on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. CDT, any adjustments made to existing reservations will follow the terms of the new Award Chart.
