World of Hyatt routinely evaluates their hotels within their award categories, and will generally make changes once a year. Hyatt has announced their latest round of changes, effective Tuesday, March 26, 2024 with 183 hotels changing categories this year.
For 2024, World of Hyatt members will see the following changes: 137 hotels will shift into a higher award category with only 46 shifting to a lower award category. However, don’t let the numbers fool you as there are many properties increasing categories.
Here’s a look at some of the hotels that will be increasing as of March 26, 2024:
- Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
- Park Hyatt Washington increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
- Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach increasing from a Category 4 to Category 5
- Thompson Chicago increasing from a Category 4 to Category 5
- The Grayson Hotel increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
- Hyatt Centric Park City increasing from a Category 7 to Category 8
- Thompson Playa Del Carmen Main House increasing from a Category 3 to Category 4
- Thompson Madrid increasing from a Category 5 to Category 6
- Alila Villas Uluwatu increasing from a Category 7 to Category 8
Here’s a look at some of the hotels that will be decreasing as of March 26, 2024:
- Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas decreasing from a Category 8 to Category 7
- Tommie Hollywood decreasing from a Category 4 to Category 3
- Hyatt Centric Melbourne decreasing from a Category 4 to Category 3
Some added information:
- All free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked before 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 26 will follow the current Award Chart regardless of stay dates, even if the hotel is shifting to a higher award category.
- However, members who have existing award or Points + Cash bookings as of 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 26 for a night on or after Tuesday, March 26 at a Hyatt hotel that moved down to a lower category will receive an automatic one-time refund on the point difference. Points will be returned to members’ accounts starting Tuesday, March 26.
- Any free night award and Points + Cash redemptions booked on or after 8:00 am CDT on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, will follow the new Award Chart.
- Once changes go into effect on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. CDT, any adjustments made to existing reservations will follow the terms of the new Award Chart.
