Radisson opened their Big Night Giveaway registration last night at midnight. You will earn 50,000 Club Carlson points upon registering and staying at a “participating” Radisson or Radisson Blu hotel in the US, Canada or  Caribbean. I’m sure many of you on the East Coast may have missed it because you couldn’t stay up that late. I was expecting the registration to close by this AM for the 50,000 point option (limited to the first 50,000 to register). As of this morning when I checked, it is still available but it is not clear if I am in the first 50,000 to register or not.

After registration you will receive this confirmation page. There are reports that no confirmation emails are being sent. There is also no mention if I qualify for the 50,000 bonus or the 15,000 bonus.
The second big catch in my opinion is what qualifies as a participating hotel. If you look closely at the terms and conditions, they call out participating hotels on several occasions but do not provide a list of those actually participating. Would be interesting to see a list of hotels which will qualify for the bonus points.
Update
When you reach the navigation page the following message appears which leads me to believe they are still offering 50,000 Club Carlson points for registrations. The page says “WE ARE OFFERING 50,000 GOLD POINTS, ENOUGH FOR A FREE NIGHT STAY AT ANY CARLSON HOTEL IN THE WORLD”. I assume they would change this to “We are offering 15,000 Gold Points” once the first 50,000 registrations are complete, but this is speculation only because the T&C’s still talk about 15,000 point bonus. YMMV until we get confirmation.
Bottom Line
This promotion requires you to purchase a one night stay to see the new Radisson Blu hotel or stay in a Radisson. The 50,000 Club Carlson points are good for a one night in the top tier hotel or you can use one of many redemption partners including airlines. The airline transfer rate equates to 50,000 Club Carlson points to 8,000 airline miles. So assuming you were to purchase a hotel for about $100 and wanted to transfer the points to airline miles, you would essentially be purchasing airline miles at a 1.25 cents per mile.
Terms and Conditions
The Big Night Giveaway Promotion (“Promotion”) is available only to Club CarlsonSM members. To be eligible for the Promotion, members must register online for the Promotion at http://www.radissonbignightgiveaway.com (“Registration”), provide their Club Carlson member number at the time of reservation or check-in, and then complete one Qualifying Stay at any participating Radisson® or Radisson Blu hotel in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean (“Participating Hotels”). The Qualifying Stay must begin on or after November 10, 2011 and be completed by December 30, 2011 (“Promotion Period”). A “Qualifying Stay” is defined as a stay of one or more consecutive nights through the Promotion Period, for which the guest specifically booked a rate for which Gold Points are awarded in accordance with the Club Carlson Program terms and conditions. Guest must be enrolled in Club Carlson and registered in the Promotion at the time of check-out (to enroll in Club Carlson, visit www.clubcarlson.com). The first 50,000 guests who complete the Promotion Registration will receive 50,000 Bonus Gold Points after the completion of the Qualifying Stay. Every guest who completes the Promotion Registration after the first 50,000 registrations will receive 15,000 Bonus Gold Points after the completion of the Qualifying Stay. These Bonus Gold Points are in addition to the standard Gold Points awarded for a regular stay. Only one Club Carlson account per Qualifying Stay will be credited with the Bonus Gold Points. Maximum of one Bonus Gold Point award will be credited to a member with a Qualifying Stay under the Promotion regardless of the number of Qualifying Stays completed by the member during the Promotion Period. Allow 6-8 weeks for the Bonus Gold Points to appear on account. The Promotion and Gold Points are subject to all Club Carlson program Terms and Conditions. How do you know if you’re in the first 50K or just one of the 15K bonus folks??
I am a bit annoyed that only hotels in the US, Canada and the Caribbean qualify; I could’ve actually used this overseas.
That is the rub at this point, you don’t know if you are part of the first 50k to register. I’ve registered, but we have time to figure out before we book & stay. Stay tuned….

@Mango, I agree, surprises in promotions are not good. This just shows the importance of programs thinking through their promotions from a “members” perspective before they take them to the market.
I’ve reached out to Radisson and will report back here when I find anything.
But did’t Radisson say that they would let us know on the signup page whether we were registered for 50K or 15K? Why did they change that at the last minute? On the positive side, at least the site didn’t crash.
@Chris, I just checked the registration page, and one can reasonably suspect they are still offering 50,000 points, however this is at face value and assuming they will change the registration page once the 50k threshold is reached.
One should assume all hotels are participating until Radisson announces otherwise, no?
@Simon – I would argue no. T&C’s state “Participating Hotels are subject to change WITHOUT NOTICE and the number of rooms and room types available for this Promotion at Participating Hotels may be limited”.
They state there will be no announcement on participating hotel changes. But changes from what? We don’t even know what hotels are participating in the first place.
I won’t assume but would wait for confirmation.
First, the timer runs out an hour early last night. Second, the splash page last night changed at 9 to a headline of “Coming Nov. 10th, Stay one night, Get one night”. I tried to register last night from 9 to 9:05 pacific and got no opportunity to register, so I did this morning. They were already feeling the love on facebook last night from some really ticked off folks(I cant find their page today, though). Now, there’s no way to verify if you are or aren’t in the first 50,000. And hotels might be limited?
