A two night getaway to Aruba wouldn’t be complete without taking in an amazing sunset. This was different than the sunset we witnessed in Bora Bora. There was no beach waitress to serve 2 for 1 Rasperry Mojitos, or any live band covering Jack Johnson. We packed a bag, headed down to the beach around 6 PM, and grabbed a chair for the scheduled sunset at 6:50 PM.

Amazing Aruba Sunset
The beach at the Hyatt Regency is packed during the daytime. If you want a palm hut with chairs, you’d be best to set your alarms before sunrise. It is a competitive game. The New Yorkers versus the Venezuelans for prime ocean front beach chairs. We sat on the sidelines during the day.
Instead, we took the southern laid back approach, walked down the beach near the location of the new Ritz Carlton (looks off schedule but cannot confirm), and watched the wind surfers with an almost deserted beach.
In the evenings, the beach chairs are stacked up early but still accessible for sunset.
The restaurant footprints runs a sunset dinner service. Several palm huts are reserved for people with dinner reservations.
We headed down to the beach, put our feet in the sand, and pulled up a beach chair next to a deserted palm hut. Thanks to our Diamond arrival gift, we had a chilled bottle of red wine to enjoy the sunset views.
The show started well before the scheduled 6:50 PM sunset. A few Venezuelans set up near the water for a front row seat to the evening show.
The water in the evening is calm and clear. A perfect way to take in the sunset for sure.
About fifteen minutes before sundown, we noticed the colors on the horizon started to change.
Such a relaxing atmosphere.
Mrs Weekly Flyer and I had a high stakes bet going. The winner would receive the upgrade on the return should there be only one upgrade. I called the sunset early around 6:48 PM while she was steady at 6:50 PM.
At 6:49 PM I conceeded to Mrs Weekly Flyer and the sundown came promptly at 6:50 PM.
After sundown, the colors on the horizon really came alive. At first, the sky was light blue with a hint of orange. Then came the orange with a hint of pink followed finally with a tint of purple before darkness set in.
Bottom Line
The Aruba sunset displays colors or yellow, orange and purple after sundown. A sunset with our feet in the sand was a fantastic way to kickoff a two night getaway in Aruba.
