My United Premier Platinum Status Packet Arrived

It only took 24 hours for my Premier Platinum status match to be processed and a few weeks for the Platinum stats packet to arrive in the mail. This is my first United Premier Platinum status packet and I was surprised by the contents.

UA Premier Platinum Packet

The packet felt thick so I was interested to see what airline goodies were included.

First, there was the obligatory Premier Platinum status card showing valid Premier Platinum status through 1/31/2015 as a result of a status match after July 1, 2013. Just below the status card were two luggage tags. So the obligatory items were out of the way, I started to look for drink tickets, job well done equivalent coupons and any other items that United may wish to bequeath to their Premier Platinum members.

As a Delta Platinum (who earned it the easy way) I’m used to receiving job well done certificates, drink certificates and the ability to select a Platinum Choice Benefit online like 20,000 miles or $200 gift card.

Digging deeper in the United packet, I found a total of 5 beverage vouchers with an expiration date of 1/31/2015. That is a generous expiration date. The last batch of Delta ones, that I gave away, expired on 12/31/2014.

I quickly thumbed through the rest of the packet noticing the multiple times they’ve thanked me for my loyalty. The last page offered up a 50,000 United MileagePlus Explorer Card offer, but that is available online so no added bonus there.

I was surprised there were no coupons to provide to the many United employees. One of my favorite things to do when I receive great customer service is to hand over one of Delta’s Job Well Done Certificates. The employee gets a certificate they can redeem and the customer gets a chance to reward excellent customer service.

I was surprised United didn’t have these in the packet. Does United give these out some other way? How have you rewarded excellent customer service from United?

  1. Jeff does not want his coworkers recognized for wxcellent customer service. No coupons are goven because it costs too much. Much like a lot of other changes at the new united, penny wise, pound foolish.
