Earlier this summer Delta rolled out their new Billboard earbuds. As of July 1st, 2014 they were made available “on all IFE equipped flights” worldwide. While a minor thing like an improved earbud isn’t noticeable to a majority of passengers, the new earbuds are a huge and noticeable improvement over the old earbuds.
Delta’s Inflight Billboard Earbuds Review
For those who travel regularly, some form of noise canceling headset, like the Bose Noise Canceling Headset, is a must have. But not everyone needs the improved quality or cost of the more expensive products. Nor does every trip warrant bringing along the noise canceling headset.
So if you don’t have a headset, forgot yours, lost yours, don’t worry. Delta has a new improved headset.
Billboard Earbuds
The new Billboard earbuds have a noticeable added soft piece that affixes into your ear to make the background noise less noticeable.
You can see from the new earbuds below, they have a new piece compared to the older ones below.
New Billboard Earbuds:
I always keep the little double connection adapter for my noise canceling set in case I lose one, I’ll have an extra.
Old Delta Earbud:
Bottom Line
Delta’s new free Billboard Earbuds are a huge improvement over the old ones. It’s nice to have them as an option in case your forget your own set or want an extra set in your bag as a backup.
Have you tried the new earbuds yet? What did you think?
The new earbuds are great, when they work! While they do sound much better than the old style, the cable is still the same cheap one. I normally ask for two sets as there is a high chance one set will be faulty. These earbuds have a high failure rate (one channel not working). Very disappointing especially with the Billboard name. I do keep an extra set when I can’t be bothered to get out my Bose.
I used these on a renovated plane from FLL to DTW this past Tuesday. I had been upgraded, and they worked just fine and sounded pretty good as well. Then on the way back I was on an renovated 767 in economy plus with the screens that come down from the ceiling. When I first plugged it in, I only got one channel, after pulling the plug out a bit, both ears started working and again it sounded just fine. I liked how they felt in my ears as well.
I dislike reading long content, only as i’ve got a bit of dislexia, but i really loved
this piece
I love the buds. I live by a dollar tree and get theirs all of the time. These actually have better dynamic range, but just a hair too much accent on the bass. They are a lot louder and are more durable. I would rather buy this at the dollar tree then their garbage. Plus, to get a L/R splitter, that actually has some use if you know how to use it.

They do not fit in my ears
Know why China’s so polluted? Free single-use headphones, and the like.
Hey the earbuds were great, especially since I left mine. However, they were not free. Since I paid $2.00, they should have had Delta’s name on them.
