The last time I picked up a The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN.
I received a large point welcome bonus. That offer is no longer around but it’s not the reason I keep the card. I keep the card for the benefits like:
- Access to American Express Centurion Lounges
- 20% Bonus Pay With Points Option
- Complimentary access to over 700 airport lounges worldwide
- $200 airline statement credit
- Global Entry credit or TSA Pre Credit
- SPG Gold Status
- 20% Bonus Pay With Points Option
- 5% Cash back with Hertz as part of the OPEN Benefit
- 20% cash back with FedEx as part of the OPEN Benefit
- Free 10 Gogo Wifi Codes each year (part of their new benefits)
Huge Change To American Express Business Platinum Card
The Pay with Points 20% rebate is reported to be going away on July 1, 2015. This is a big bummer, because one good use for these points was to use them and get a 20% rebate on the points redeemed. This was a great way to reduce the cost of award tickets.
I can regularly get award tickets for less points after the 20% rebate option than when transferring the points directly to the airline and redeeming with the airline.
Bottom Line
The good news is you still have time to use the Pay with Points option until July 1, 2015, after that it will go away and you’ll be left with the other benefits of theThe Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN.
