On a recent Delta flight from New York (JFK) to Seattle, as a Delta Platinum Medallion, I was upgraded to First Class at the gate for this nearly 6 hour transcontinental flight. Delta flies a mixture of 737’s 757’s, and even 767’s on this route, and I lucked out as I was on an internationally configured 757-200ER aircraft meaning the premium cabin featured lie-flat seats.

Delta offers complimentary Medallion Upgrades on this route, even though it’s common to find internationally configured aircraft on this route. Despite these planes, it’s still the standard domestic offerings onboard.

Our Boeing 757-200ER featured 16 seats in the premium cabin in a 2×2 configuration, meaning the window seats do not offer direct aisle access.

As this wasn’t an international route, there was no amenity kit, Westin heavenly pillow or blanket. The only amenity that I noticed was the LSTN noise canceling headsets which were at my seat on the plane.

For dinner, I opted for a Delta Margarita, which is their mix of Avion Tequila and their margarita mix with a lime. The Margarita was average at best.

Dinner choices on this flight included a chicken dish or a pasta. I chose the pasta which was surprisingly quite tasty.

The meal was a rigatoni Bolognese with chunky red wine mushroom sauce, a side salad, and frozen yogurt.

Overall, I was pleased with the flight, especially receiving a complimentary upgrade at the gate. It’s nice to have an internationally configured aircraft on a domestic route, though it was still the standard domestic catering options.

Delta does offer complimentary Main Cabin Meals on long-haul domestic flights, and this was one of those routes, so coach passengers didn’t go hungry onboard.
