New Thoughts on Budget Fast Break

Back in October I knocked Budget Fast Break as being time consuming and non transparent in this rental trip experience report.  At that time I was Avis President’s club which got me the best car on the lot and there was a 5,000 mile Delta/Avis promotion going on.  So little to say I had some incentive to stick with Avis and things didn’t exactly go well with my Budget rental.

However I’ve recently turned over a new leaf with Budget.  I decided to give Budget another try after loosing my Avis Presidents club (Avis demoted me to Avis First once I no longer had the Continental President’s club card which gives access to Avis President’s club) and once Budget came out with this nifty 5,000 Delta Skymiles promotion for 2 day car rentals.

My Updated Experience

The first I noticed that was different with Budget than Avis is that they assign you a group number as opposed to a rental car space.  The group number indicates the type of car you rented where those types of cars are parked. You simply walk up to the group of cars and pick anyone that you’d like to drive for the day or week.  In my most recent rental I looked around and found a new Jeep with Satelite radio (much better than the Hyudai Sonata I’ve been getting with Avis recently (no offense Sonata owners).  So the “upgraded” car and sound system is a nice benefit.

After I picked up my car I headed to the exit and handed the check out person my slip with my credit card.  She took about 50 seconds and handed me back my card with the slip.  Much quicker than last time and pretty efficient as long as the check out person is paying attention and there is no checkout line.

Bottom Line

With the upgraded car and sound system at Budget along with the 5,000 Skymiles promotion I’ve found new life in Budget.  It always pays to check out the latest promotions on the right side of this blog.  I update it frequently with the latest car rental promotions (you can click them to easily grab the codes for your next rentals).  If you don’t see a code your using please send it along to me at theweeklyflyer at gmail dot com and I”ll put it up on the current deals.
