The W Atlanta Downtown is giving away 2 free weekend nights during the Passports with Purpose charity fundraiser. In this post I’ll share pictures of the Wonderful room that you could win in the fundraiser give away. In my next few posts on the W Atlanta Downtown, I’ll share an afternoon coffee experience from their lobby lounge, a signature cocktail from one of their mixologists, and pictures from an awesome meal at the BLT restaurant.

Hotel 

This week the W team was kind enough to spend some time with me to share more about the W Atlanta Downtown. I had an opportunity to meet with a few of the W team members including Pablo and Adrian to learn what the hotel is all about.

The hotel has a great location near downtown and is only minutes away from midtown. At the time the W Atlanta downtown hotel was built in 2009, it was the highest price per room, so the quality is top notch. The hotel has 28 stories, 237 hotel rooms, 76 residences, 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a Bliss Spa and a helipad on top of building. Even with 237 hotel rooms, my business colleagues frequently find this hotel sold out. A fellow Boarding Area blogger, Marshal Jackson, was finally able to get a reservation at this hotel, keep an eye out for his upcoming trip report. If you are visiting Atlanta and haven’t already made your reservation, I’d highly recommend you reserve as early as possible.

In addition to their rooms they take great pride in their award winning mixologist concept to lead the way in crafted libations and the art of the Southern cocktail. Adrian, a resident mixologist shared “our guests really like the penicillin signature drink”, when they come back “this is one of the first things frequent guests order from us”. The penicillin libation sounds like it will really take care of you. I”ll share a review of this drink in an upcoming post.

The W Atlanta Downtown certainly has a lot going on, from helicopter landings on their helipad, to Delta / Avion happy hours, to music industry after parties at one of their great bars.

Wonderful Room

We toured two Wonderful rooms on the 14th floor and the rooms really look great. The rooms have large modern bathrooms and a very cool style. Walking straight towards the room there is an entrance with a large mirrored wall. A flat screen TV and desk are on the right side of the room. To the left you’ll find the W Wonderful beds, which I picked one up last month. I used to dream about staying in the W bed, now I can look forward to staying in my own at home.
