One thing I love most about the Hyatt program is the complimentary breakfast for Diamond Elites. I have been a Hyatt Diamond member for over 5 years and this is one benefit that keeps me coming back year after year. It is such a great benefit that it often tips the scale in Hyatt’s favorite when considering non-Hyatt properties.
Breakfast At The Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt Buenos Aires
For our trip to Buenos Aires, there was no question we would stay at the Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt and they certainly came through with their Food & Beverage service. In this post I’ll share details from the breakfast options we were offered at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.
The Diamond membership benefit is for complimentary breakfast at hotels without a club lounge. I prefer club lounge access because the offerings can sometimes be extraordinary, like the evening spread at the Grand Hyatt Kauai which one night included lamb chops, or the exceptional espresso at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, the complimentary breakfast really distinguishes Hyatt’s loyalty program. The Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is lacking a club lounge but they are certainly not lacking in the area of Food & Beverage (F&B). I rank this Park Hyatt among the top in terms of F&B compared to the limited Park Hyatt’s I’ve stayed in (Paris, DC).
The complimentary breakfast is not commonly mentioned during the check in process so make sure you know your benefits. Back in 2009 I somehow forgot about this benefit during our stay at the Park Hyatt Paris. I really need to refresh the Park Hyatt Paris hotel review but that is another story. Here is the stated Hyatt Diamond club lounge / breakfast benefit.
Receive exclusive access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge featuring complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres2. Enjoy daily complimentary full breakfast in hotels without a club lounge.
Not available at Hyatt Place™ Hyatt Summerfield Suites™ or Hyatt Residence Club.

Hyatt Diamond Breakfast
The main breakfast offering is at the Gioia restaurant in the modern building. With this option you can select items from the large breakfast buffet and a hot item off the menu.
We entered the restaurant and were seated at a table to the right. We selected fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and coffee. The items on the buffet included a large fruit selection, cheese options, meat offerings and several pastries of which our favorite was the sugar donut (see picture later from room service).
Complimentary breakfast can also be sent to your room as a Diamond member. Since we had a suite we thought this would be a way to take advantage of the views. Again we were offered juice, coffee, hot plates, and pastries from the Gioia restaurant. For those that don’t have the Hyatt Diamond benefit, the breakfast portions are large and are high quality. We could have easily shared one order each day and did on one occasion.
Our favorite way to eat breakfast was in the Los Salones del Piano Nobile. This was breakfast dining at it’s finest. This restaurant is on the main level in the Palace. We had fun and dressed up for this event to really take our time to enjoy the morning together. The service was exceptional in this restaurant as was the case in each restaurant at this hotel.
We had a private breakfast room to our selves and were seated at the window. There is another room in this restaurant which they also serve afternoon tea. One evening they had a lady playing a very soft sounding string instrument (please leave a comment if you know what it is), I’m not sure what it was but really set the mood for great conversation. We also enjoyed afternoon tea in this restaurant after a long walk around the city.
Bottom Line
A big thank you to Hyatt for offering a truly distinguishing benefit to their most loyal customers. The Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt food and beverage options were a real treat. It was difficult to leave the hotel for any meal, let alone breakfast. We ate lunch on the terrace, had a snack in the Oak Bar, ate dinner at Gioia, dined at the Duhau restaurant and had afternoon tea service at the Los Salones del Piano Nobile. Each time the Food & Beverage service was exceptional.
In my next post I’ll share details from our walks through this interesting city and some pictures from the other experiences at the Park Hyatt.

Thank you for this set of posts. We’ll be staying at the Park Hyatt next February prior to boarding our 14 day Antarctic cruise. This is a great intro to our visit. Can’t wait for your next installment of the must-sees in town.
The Placio Duhau in BA is our second most favorite Park Hyatt (Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme in Paris still ranks #1 for us)we have used during our travels…..and the Gioia breakfast is delicious, bountiful and artfully presented (we were treated to fabulous weather each morning and selected outdoor patio seat (aren’t the cascading waterfalls a pleasure).
Have an opportunity to do a wine & cheese tasting there? If so, any comments?
Hi Fred – Please find my wine and cheese review in this post: /pointsmilesandmartinis/2012/01/buenos-aires-trip-report-buenos-aires-activities/
