It seems someone jumped the gun on the Delta promotion to purchase miles which was released to SkyMiles members earlier this week. The offer has been re-sent to “clarify” the terms of the promotion. Check out the latest email communication from Delta’s communication team below.

Clarifying Message From Delta

You recently received an email regarding a new SkyMiles promotion. This email noted the incorrect eligibility dates for this offer. We apologize for this error — but good news – you can earn a 50% mileage bonus when you buy miles now through April 30, 2012.

Buying miles is an easy way to earn Award Travel fast, and if you act now, you’ll earn an additional 1,000 bonus miles for every 2,000 miles you purchase. Every year, you can buy up to 60,000 miles, and between now and April 30, 2012, you can earn up to 30,000 bonus miles.

The extra 50% mileage bonus will bring you closer to earning Award Travel. And with our three-level Award Travel structure, you can combine cabins, dates and mileage amounts to get the flights you want. Award levels start at 25,000, 40,000 and 60,000 miles, and include last seat availability. So why not buy miles now and enjoy more miles and flexibility?

Dates In Old Communication Were Obviously Wrong

Bottom Line

Delta has clarified the actual dates of the promotion. Still, they have offered better bonuses on purchased SkyMiles in the past. I would suggest participating in this promotion only if you are looking to top off your account for an award.
