American, Delta and United ground flights into and out of New York’s three airports today due to Hurricane Sandy and travelers are stranded until at least Tuesday, if not later! Airports in Metropolitan New York City area are open, but air carriers are not operating.
Approximately 25% of all flights travel in and out of the New York airports everyday so, this is going to cause problems everywhere. Even if the damage from Sandy is minor, it could take a week before operations in NE airports are normal again.
I’ve already had two flights and two train rides cancelled this week. My last trip still looks like a go at this point.
If you are stranded due to Sandy, let us know what type of delays you are experiencing and where.
I hope that everyone stays safe and out of Sandy’s way.

I’m sitting tight at ORD, now booked on AA, because United refused to cancel its flights officially early enough for me to get rebooked on the first AA flight out of SFO on Sunday to JFK.
In retrospect, I should have just pulled out my credit card and bought myself a ticket from AA rather than deal with more of United’s lousy customer service.
No issues for me but I’ve got a coworker stuck in Dublin. Was supposed to come home yesterday but US Airways can’t get her on a flight home to Boston until Friday! Seems very wrong.
Yep! Was supposed to fly from London to Boston yesterday. I was able to switch flights and flew London SFO. I will be able to work from our Menlo Park, CA office. Not sure when I’m going to make it back to Boston though. :((
