Here is a break down of what we bought for small business Saturday from Mrs Weekly Flyer.
1.) Pretty Please Children’s Boutique, whole store was 20% off – bought Baby Weekly Flyer a bottom piece and book set, total came to $28.35 – $25 statement credit = $3.35!
2.) B.D. Jeffries Boutique, free gift wrapping, bought great candle as a gift, total came to $32.40 -$25 statement credit = $7.40.
3.) Erika Reade, bought serving plate, total came to $28.88 – $25 statement credit = $3.88.
4.) Went back to Pretty Please Children’s Boutique, 20% off store, bought Baby Weekly Flyer Holiday pajamas, total came to $32.58 – $25 statement credit = $7.58.
5.) Lunch at Marcello’s Pizza, total came to $28.59 – $25 statement credit = $3.59!
Bottom Line
What a great day with the Weekly Flyer family! Total cost of day was $150.80 – $125 in statement credits from American Express = $25.80! Plus, we had a blast and supported local businesses!
We can’t wait til next year’s Small Business Saturday and maybe even adding an Amex or 2 to our collection to maximize on the savings!

Did you guys get any emails from Amex yet confirming the statement credits?
I I bought 25 shots at $5 a piece! My head and body regret it.
My husband and daughter both received emails confirming their participation in Small Business Saturday; I did not (although I did the shopping on their cards); I’m hoping it’s just my email settings.
I bought and/or paid for: 1/2 pound of coffee and a $20 GC at my favorite coffee shop; a GC at my hair salon; $25.50 for dry cleaning that I dropped off last week; a payment on my cable bill; $28 in kitchen gadgets; $25 GC at my favorite restaurant; $30 purchase at the computer store; and books. My favorite deal of the day was at my local independent bookstore that had a 20% off sale; they split my purchase so I could pay with two cards: $75 in books for a net of $10!
If I get all the statement credits, I saved at least $200. The only purchase outside my normal spend was the kitchen gadgets.
My local booze stores were listed on the website as locations I could shop at – stocked up on vino.
Hi Hulagirl – We got an email for each card that was used.
Hi Mike – Great strategy and use of the statement credits.
Bought a French press (travel size) to replace one that has seen better days and a few misc kitchen supplies
Seriously considered groceries as my local Swiss Farm drive thru qualified as a small biz but opted to splurge on my tea fetish …
I waited until the last minute to go out. However, I used my 2 registered cards to buy 2 $25 Visa Gift Cards at a local grocery store down the street. Next year I’ll do some better planning since there were alot of my favorite stores participating.
Very disappointed. 3 local businesses that were listed on the Amex ShopSmall website as participating – all declined to take Amex cards. It was embarrassing and felt like a bait and switch.
Purchased 10 $25 GC at local organic supermarket/cafe. Then went shopping and used 2 of the GC already. Nice quick & easy $250 savings.
