A Thanksgiving family travel tradition

My family does not have too many family traditions but one we continue to maintain is called the annual pick-a-completely-random-location-and-meet-there on Thanksgiving.  The tradition is simple. Each Thanksgiving, we select a new location that has dirt cheap airfare and deep discounts at fancy resorts.  Once we find a location that meets that criteria, we make the booking and just go with it.  With Thanksgiving travel prices generally inflated for most, you’d be surprised how many locations that are normally in high demand become ghost towns over Thanksgiving.

While we generally miss out on the traditional turkey dinner, the tradition creates some amazing memories and hence we continue to keep the tradition alive.

Any guesses on this year’s location?

Here is a photo I took on my iPhone today and then ran through a dusty attic….

…and here is a normal one.

As expected, the flights were empty (everyone was upgraded with lowly status), the five star resort is as empty as can be (room upgrades with no status), and the weather is spectacular (MASSIVE upgrade from Chicago).  Another Thanksgiving tradition success.
