I love my cozy Lincoln Park apartment situated a few miles North of downtown Chicago. As I wrote out my rent check for November and December I couldn’t help but feel like I wasn’t doing a very good job justifying my big city rent. Over the last two months, exciting opportunity after exciting opportunity opened up to spend time with friends and family in road locations and before I knew it, my two months were completely booked up leaving exactly 2 days in my apartment to do laundry and water my poor thirsty plant.
A Road Warrior’s Rent is a scary number to calculate. Add November’s Rent to December’s Rent and divide by two. That is my apartment cost per day!
Total Days in November and December – 61
Flight Segments – 26
Total Mileage Flown – 31252
Longest Flight in miles – Frankfurt-Narita – 5836
Shortest Flight in miles – Washington Dulles-Baltimore Washington International – 45
Days at Home – 2
……and the Road Warrior Seal of Approval
Checked Bags – 0
The bottom line
As much as I love my Chicago apartment, I love travel even more so in actuality I wouldn’t change a thing. For me, November’s and December’s rent was money well spent!
you carry both of those bags on? they don’t question the 2nd suitcase as too big for “personal item” i’ve considered trying this before but didnt want to try & risk it
You could always sublet your apartment on Craigslist or AirBnb for a short period. 🙂
How did you go from IAD to BWI?
@ryan – Nope, just the Tumi on the right. The picture was meant to share my lovely plant. Sorry for the confusion.
@Kelly – That’s an idea I am looking into more and more each month.
@ffi – I had a flight diversion creating a lovely sub-20 minute flight.
Which Tumi model is that?
@Stephen – Tumi Alpha International Zippered Expandable Carry-On, Style #: 22020
Wow. This actually could have been written about me, right down to the Lincoln Park Apartment. Except, I was home a whole 5 days in November. Of course, it doesn’t look like I’ll make it home at all in December.
And not to sound like a total crazed stalker, but the floors and radiator in your picture look an awful lot like my old building.
