Delta’s iPhone application is one of the best airline apps currently available. My favorite feature has always been the ability to monitor the upgrade list (otherwise known as the gate lottery) in real time. But there are many other cool features and they’ve just added a few more with their latest update to the Delta iPhone app.

Sharable Travel Moments With Delta iPhone App

Delta has rolled out an update which incorporates sharable travel moments from the traveler’s experience. With the latest Delta app update, travelers will be able to share moments through the app including:

• When customers book a future flight via the app
• Upon check-in for their trip
• At their arrival destination

For example, the app will send a prompt in the phone letting you share your arrival via Facebook with friends.

Simply type in your message and select the “Share to Facebook” feature.

Your message will be sent to Facebook and shared with your friends or family letting them know you’ve arrived safe and on time. 

I asked Delta what other social media they plan to integrate and they expect to continue to add features across the channel over time.

Additional Functionality

In addition to the social sharing feature, travelers will now be able to purchase international flight reservations on their iPhone apps and purchase preferred seating like Exit Row seats.

Bottom Line

The new features in the Delta app are a welcome addition. The ability to share travel moments with friends and family via Facebook is a time saver.

With this feature, I imagine you could simply send an update to Facebook letting all of your friends and family know you’ve arrived to your destination.
