Last week, I wrote about a targeted Delta offer in which they were giving away Platinum Medallion status. While, it looks like Delta is at it again and this time they are now giving away Gold Medallion status.

Delta launched another targeted offer that for those who are eligible will receive complimentary Gold Medallion Status, complimentary Delta Sky Club membership, and 50,000 Delta SkyMiles after purchasing a BusinessElite ticket.

Unfortunately, I was not targeted for this offer either, and I suspect that it is highly targeted as well.

Details of this offer include:

Register before March 31, 2014, to receive:
• 60 days of complimentary Gold Medallion status.
• 60 days of complimentary Delta Sky Club membership.

To help you hold onto the perks that you richly deserve, all you have to do is book one BusinessElite ticket and fly within 60 days of registration, and you’ll earn:
• Gold Medallion status through February 2015.
• Delta Sky Club membership for an additional 10 months.
• 50,000 bonus miles.

Bottom Line

It seems that Delta is constantly giving away Medallion status as well as SkyClub access, yet they are slashing SkyClub access for their credit card holders, Diamond Medallions and Amex Platinum cardholders.

  1. So the message is let’s clear out the SkyClubs of all those spouses/partners and kids and fill it with targeted, prospective customers who may or not stick.

  2. ”You do not meet the eligibility criteria listed below and may not register for this promotion.”

    Blablabla ….. 😉

  3. Man these really tick me off. First I lose SC guest privileges, now they are targetting tourists. They will absolutely sign up, use it once, then forget it. Been with Delta longtime, loyalty is no longer reciprocated.

  4. @Paul – I got home and told my wife about her new status and she showed me nice mailings we each received from Delta in the mail today telling us about the offer.

  5. @Andrew L – does any J/C/D/I/Z fare count? Looking at a flight from EWR-ATL. It’s a Z fare and the seat map says BusinessElite but I am worried they will only accept TCON flights.

  6. @Danielle
I don’t know. I read the T&C and realized that I probably won’t get the bonus miles because I am already a GM. A DM friend gifted it to me last November.

  7. Delta is totally reneging on this deal. Shame on them. All the original literature (which I still have by the way as proof) clearly states that you need to book and fly one segment in Business Elite in J/C/D/I/Z class. It did not specify anything else. Now, all of the sudden they are saying that this only applies to business elite international flights and transcontinental flights (e.g. JFK to LAX). The original literature never stipulated that – it only stated the class codes.

I took a Business Elite domestic first class flight last week from ATL to LGA (“C” class code) and they won’t honor it.

  8. Mary,
I think I am about to have the identical problemv: i took LGA to Atl in BusinessElite which met the original offer terms, but they bait and switched the terms after i purchased the nonrefund ticket and otherwise met the requirements. I stupidly didn’t keep the original materials though. Any chance I could get you (or anyone else in this forum) to direct email me a copy of the terms? I’m not letting them get away with that.

    Many thanks in advance.

  9. copy of my related post on flyertalk:
you will all probably be shocked to find out (as I just did that, including after a 40 minute call with DL customer service) that for flights you take during the 60 day promotion period, you not only will NOT receive the 100% gold bonus miles, you also will LOSE the 25% silver bonus miles you would have earned for the flight without the promotion! Yup you read that right, if you took the 60 day promotion from silver to gold, you will get ZERO bonus miles for flights during that 60 day period. After my call to DL they gave me the bonus miles as a “courtesy”, but insisted they would not for any other flight during this period and would not even move me back to silver. They even admit that their original mailing to me did NOT have all the terms and conditions, but that by the time I signed up for the promotion their website had corrected it.
