Southwest finally has joined the 21st century and is beginning to roll-out mobile boarding passes at select airports.
Currently flights originating out of Austin, TX (AUS) Dallas Love Field (DAL) and Houston Hobby (HOU) as part of a pilot program.
At this time, mobile boarding passes are only available to passengers traveling on nonstop and direct Southwest Airlines-operated flights originating out of Austin, TX (AUS) Dallas Love Field (DAL) and Houston Hobby (HOU) as part of a pilot program.
They are not currently available to passengers traveling on AirTran-operated flights and/or international flights. In the future, Southwest plans to expand the mobile boarding pass option throughout the Southwest network in 2014.
You can request to recieve your boarding pass through email or sent via text message while checking in for your flight or if you check-in through the Southwest App, you can retrieve you’re boarding pass there.
Bottom Line
I still can’t believe Southwest is just starting to roll out mobile boarding passes now. Let’s hope they expand this quickly to all their cities they serve!

Excellent! We’re looking to fly Southwest this summer to Lake Tahoe and hopefully it will be in place nationwide by then!
