Starting today, Delta will be allowing cabin to cabin Same Day Confirms for premium passengers booked in First/Business Class for travel within the U.S. or for travel between the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Delta used to allow cabin to cabin same day confirms, but switched to restrict this to require the same fare class be available. However, they must of realized that this caused a lot of frustration and if they are truly trying to win over those premium fliers then this is a step in the right direction.

Previously, in order to Same Day to Confirm, there would have to be the same fare class available, but Delta is dropping that requirement for those passengers booked in the premium cabin.

Delta will allow customers to now confirm a same-day change to their itinerary if there are seats available in the same premium cabin instead of the current same fare class availability requirement. Delta SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members will continue to receive a fee waiver for same-day confirmed.

Note that the above policy change does not apply to tickets booked using Unlimited Complimentary Medallion Upgrades.

There are no changes to the same-day confirmed program for Economy passengers at this time.

  1. How about if you’re booked in First on one segment and Economy on the other segment? Can you change the first flight under the new rules since it’s in First and then they would have to change the second segment even though in Economy if you can no longer make the orig time due to the change of the first segment?
