Each week, we will be taking a look at a hotel or airline elite status level and the benefits that come with it and how to leverage earning the status.
So far we have looked at Hilton Gold, Hilton Diamond, Starwood Gold, Starwood Platinum, Hyatt Platinum, Hyatt Diamond, Marriott Silver, Marriott Gold, Marriott Platinum, and Fairmont Premier.
Overview of Fairmont Platinum Status
So for this week, we will be taking a look at Fairmont Platinum, which normally requires 10 stays or 30 nights with Fairmont.
How to Earn:
(1) 30 nights in a calendar year
(2) 10 stays in a calendar year
Benefits of Fairmont Platinum Status
- 2 complimentary room upgrade certificates
- 2 complimentary suite upgrade certificates
- US $100 Fairmont dining (lunch & dinner) or Willow Stream Spa e-certificates
- 1 complimentary night per year
- Guaranteed room access
- Complimentary, in-room high-speed Internet access4
- Complimentary local calls and no service charge on toll-free calls
- Complimentary health club access
- Complimentary use of TaylorMade golf clubs at select hotels
- Guaranteed early arrival/late check-out
- Personalized welcome amenity
Other Ways To Earn:
You can’t earn Platinum status outright with a credit card, but the Fairmont Visa does provides complimentary Fairmont Premier status each year just for having the card after the first year.
Bottom Line
Fairmont Platinum status offers some great perks such as the two free suite upgrades as well as the free night each year. In addition, every 10 nights after 30 nights will earn you a free night year. So after your 40th night you’ll earn a free night and after your 50th night you’ll earn another free night etc.
Other hotel perks such as free internet access and complimentary gym access are nice, however Fairmont Platinum does not offer any breakfast benefit nor does it offer lounge access to the Fairmont Gold lounge. I personally think this status could have much more value if it provided lounge access.
What’s your favorite Fairmont Platinum perk?
Having my room preassigned with my keys waiting at the Valet counter. This way I never need to go to the front desk. This is a great perk! Using free nights at the Plaza in NYC was also pretty great!
I have a Fairmont CC and I am not sure it’s worth maintaining after the first year. Do you know if the $100 dining certificate must be used in conjunction with a nightly stay, or if I also have the option of using it as a day visitor at the Fairmont in my hometown?
@heavenlyjane you should be able to use them even if not staying there. Just let the restaurant know you’re using them and they can retrieve from your Fairmont President’s Club account
