I received a gentle reminder message yesterday from Delta reminding me about their “update” to the complimentary club guest policy. The changes went into effect yesterday. Not sure about you, but the addition of a $29 fee will impact many people’s decision to visit to the Sky Club.
Delta Sky Club Policy Change
A DELTA SKY CLUB REMINDER.
UPDATES TO COMPLIMENTARY CLUB GUEST ACCESS ARE EFFECTIVE TODAY.
Bottom Line
If you receive complimentary access to the Sky Club from an American Express or even a Delta co-branded credit card, the days are over when you could take your significant other into the Sky Club lounge with you for free. The lounges may be less crowded starting yesterday.
I personally don’t see the value in the Executive Membership level ($695 fee). As a result, the next time I travel with my family (which is usually on a non-business traveler travel day), rather than paying a $29 fee for each family member, we’ll likely delay getting to the airport or find a nice restaurant in the airport to relax.
Have you noticed a difference yet?

I saw a note from another blogger that Amex will statement credit up to $200 ($400?) for lounge passes. I’m TK *G and use that for UA lounge access, but have a points trip on AA at the end of the month. I plan to buy day passes on my layover in MIA (3 hrs) and see what happens.
If anyone knows whether this is correct, and if it applies to Delta, I’d like to know.
I saw two families turned away at the PDX club yesterday. The club was pretty empty and quiet for a rush-hour Friday, which was nice. It will be interesting to see if there’s noticeable difference in the NY clubs later this week.
I saw a family turned away last evening at MCO. That being said, MCO was packed. I’ve never seen the sky club so crowded. Also, no problem as a Diamond Medallion to get someone into the DCA club with me.
