The incident involved Delta 630 from Detroit to Atlanta, after the controller told the plane not to land, then seconds later said “I’m kidding”

The FAA released a prepared statement, saying “The FAA is investigating air traffic communications with Delta 630, a Boeing 777 aircraft on approach to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.”

Comments

  1. Not a big deal. The controller should get a reprimand and Delta an apology…nothing more.

  2. Save the jokes for a more appropriate venue. Communication needs to be clear and concise. Miscommunication jeapordizes everyone’s safety.

  3. My understanding is that they didn’t divert. They just executed a go-around then came back around and landed.
