The Airspace Lounge in BWI is a private lounge near gate D-10 (just beyond the Dunkin’ Donuts) at BWI Airport. The hours are 4:30am to 8pm, 365 days a year. The lounge itself just larger than two gate areas combined. The space is divided into the reception area with a conference room behind the check-in desk, a rectangular room with a long sofa dotted with coffee tables and chairs, and the full service bar and self service coffee and tea area. There is also a restroom in the back of the lounge.
The lounge is complimentary for American Express Platinum Card members and Centruion cardholders, otherwise the fee is $30 per person. Upon check-in you also get a small white card with a $7 credit towards anything off the menu, or $7 towards cocktails, beer or wine. Peet’s Coffe and Tea, soft drinks, water and a snack mix was complimentary. The lounge attendants are friendly, and they are willing to make all of the menu items ‘to-go’.
Bottom Line:
While this lounge is not nearly as nice as an American Express Centurion Lounge, I appreciated a quiet space where I could quickly grab a drink and a snack. I’m sure what keeps this lounge quiet it’s location … it’s behind security on the D Pier well away from the craziness of the Southwest Airlines in BWI which operates 192 flights daily off of the A, B and C Piers.
I agree the lounge isn’t as nice as some others, but yes, it’s hardly ever crowded which is nice. The food/drink selection is quite good, and with the $7 credit, you can always get a decent drink or food item. A few comments: 1) your photo to the entrance is misleading. Every time I go (once a week) the Dunkin Donuts employees are sitting watching their iPhones right outside the door – lol 2) The staff is usually pretty slow and it normally takes a while to get someone up front to check me in. Also, for a lounge that charges $30 for entry if you don’t have the right Amex, it feels run down. I wish they would upgrade it but I guess the traffic doesn’t warrant it.
Unless things have changed since the last time I was in BWI, if you are not in the D pier, you have to leave the secured area in order to get to the D pier so as to access this lounge. Then go back through security to catch your flight after leaving the lounge. Not worth the hassle.
