Delta Airlines currently operates 117 MD88 single aisle jets. These are those airplanes you board where there is one side that has 2 seats and the other side that has 3 seats. The two seater side has its benefits of fewer people, but I always appreciate the 3 seater side when traveling with my family. It’s a tough choice, but it can be even harder in one circumstance. This week I was looking at an upcoming set of flights and noticed I had two segments on MD88 with both of my favorite seats available. I was in a dilemma.
Which Seat Do You Prefer On Delta’s MD88
I usually go for the aisle seat in the first row of economy comfort on the two seater side. It has the best legroom, access to the aisle, and you pretty much feel like you are in First Class. Throw in a Delta HOOU certificate and you pretty much are. Â So when I had the pick of each of my favorite seats, I decided to take both of them. On the outbound, I selected the left side of the plane.
On the return I selected the right side of the plane.
Bottom Line
These planes are slated to get new cockpits in 2016, so they’ll be around for a while. Might as well find your favorite comfortable seat and then go after it on each of your upcoming flights. Which seat and aisle do you prefer when flying an MD88? And do yourself a favor, use this one little trick to never leave a free drink on the table when flying with Delta.

Think your first flight is on an MD 90.
When facing forward the MD 90 has the two side on the left and the MD 88 has it on the right.
The first seat map is for an MD-90 (two seats on the left), and the second is for MD-88 (two seats on the right). But we completely agree on the favorite seat!
I flew on a Delta MD88 last night and it was a much bigger plane than you guys are talking about with 3 seats either side in the rear section. As soon as I sat down I notice how much more comfortable tje seats were than any other plane I’ve flown on recently
